A Lamborghini Gallardo has been donated to the Italian State Police (Polizia di Stato) by Automobili Lamborghini SpA. The V10, 500 bhp 190 mph performance car has been liveried in the colours of the state police and includes a siren and flashing lights on the roof of the car. This is the first time that a Lamborghini will be used by Italian police.
The Lamborghini 400 GT 2+2 was still a successful car back in 1967, but Ferruccio decided to build a new body on its framework. The Carrozzeria Touring was falling into great financial problems, and since they also built the 400 GT body, this decision was right on time.
The Islero 400 GT was presented on the 1968 Geneva Auto Show, alongside the brand new Espada, the 400 GT’s looks had completely changed, now with hidden headlamps and square-cut contours.
The Lamborghini Miura Concept will be the first Lamborghini vehicle to be conjured from the pen of Walter de’ Silva, Head of Lamborghini Design. De Silva’s other responsibilities include serving as Head of Design of Audi Group. The talented designer’s idea for the new concept was simple: a retro-inspired look heralding back to one of the auto world’s most famous icons, the legendary Lamborghini Miura.
Decade after decade, generation after generation, Italys two finest sports car makers, Lamborghini and Ferrari, have battled it out for the title of the greatest supercar manufacturer on earth. While the two each have their heavy-hitters, Lamborghini recently expanded its lineup, launching the smaller, more affordable Gallardo, and the beautiful open-roofed Murcielago Speedster, further encroaching on Ferraris segments.
Presented as a concept car in 2003 in Detroit where it generated significant interest among Italian supercar enthusiasts the production version of the Murcielago Roadster makes its official debut at the Geneva Show 2004. Manufacture and sales are planned for the second half of this year for the Roadster. The latest arrival at the House of the Raging Bull takes its inspiration from the great Italian tradition of open vehicles.
