The first Lamborghini off-road vehicle, that wasn’t a tractor, was the Cheetah, it was built on contract for the American firm Mobility Technology International, which were contacted by the U.S. military to design and built an all-terrain vehicle.
M.T.I. would sell the vehicle while it would be built in Sant’Agata, Lamborghini didn’t have the time to completely design the Cheetah itself, so basic instructions were taken from M.T.I., who unfortunately just copied a very well known vehicle, the FMC XR 311.
Some would call it lowering the quality of the brand, others would call it advertising, others still would note that it’s a revenue stream. We’re talking about the coming preponderance of Lamborghini-branded trinkums. Okay, we’re not really sure how much exactly there will be, but Lamborghini is slowing down its vehicular business a little for 2007 and picking up its activity in the knick-knack sector. The reasoning for the growth shrinkage is to improve the efficiency of the organization, as well as popularize the brand through the aforementioned things other than cars.
In Spanish PREGUNTA means “question”. This vehicle was an original way of questioning the motor world to ask if it is aware of all of the Heuliez Group’s abilities and possibilities, a European industrial reality. So the Pregunta is an aggressive act of defiance that needs to and must succeed in demonstrating the Hueliez Group’s ability to design and produce a real car and not just a simple exhibition prototype.
For the Lamborghini owner that wants everything here’s yet another branded item to make sure everyone knows who left the LP640 with the valet. The new limited edition Nokia 8800 Sirocco phone features a stainless steel casing that is etched with Lamborghini’s charging bull logo as well as the words “Automobili Lamborghini”.
The Lamborghini branding doesn’t end there, either. The phone also comes with Lambo wallpaper graphics, engine-inspired ringtones and a short video documentary about their cars. Most notably, according to the press release, “ball bearings crafted by Lamborghini have been used, allowing a sophisticated slide mechanism”.
The prospect of a new Lamborghini sport utility vehicle is enough to send the automotive press running for details and even credible speculation. Last month, there was a report based on spy shots of a disguised Porsche Cayenne that was thought to be a possible Lambo test mule. Now some people have issued a few renderings of what they think a future Lamborghini truck should look like.
