As the expected delivery date nears for the lighter, more powerful Ferrari Challenge Stradale, Lamborghini loyalists are ready for some good news in the form of the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera. Like the prancing-horse crowd, the bucking-bull boys have corralled a few more horsepower and shed some unnecessary weight to create this special edition.
The first Pirelli film titled “The Call” was more of a satanic, tire-smoking standoff than a forum for promoting tires. But it was artsy, very well photographed with plenty of cool special effects and intriguing; a thinking man’s endorsement of Pirelli tires.
The next film called “Mission Zero” is a no-holds-barred action film with Uma Thurman driving a yellow Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder trying to evade assassins shooting at her from an old Mopar B-body with a fake supercharger. The conflict stretches from Beverly Hills to the Los Angeles port and is action for the sake of action.
Extravagant vehicles that oftentimes cost more than the homes we reside in, while immensely desirable, are way out of reach for most common folk. But there’s definitely a trend growing that pairs up notebook manufacturers with elite automakers to give average joes (and janes) the ability to feel a small semblance of ownership of the dream-worthy brands.
People only think it’s cool when Lamborghini does it. Other carmakers can try, but it’s only cool when Lamborghini does it. It may amount to chopping off the roof, cranking up the engine or simply slapping some decals on the side, but when the Raging Bull rolls out a special edition, it’s show-stopping for everyone.
When Lamborghini teamed up with Versace to produce a special edition Murcielago LP640, they only built ten of the ultra-exclusive fashion accessory to beat all other fashion accessories. But now they’ve topped it with a one-off open-air version.
Lamborghini is getting ready forĀ a major expansion of its product range as the Italian supercar maker draws even closer to German parent Audi. As early as next year, the Italians plan to introduce an all-new Miura, Lamborghini’s answer to the Ferrari Enzo. It will be derived mechanically from the midengine Audi Le Mans.
