1971 Miura SV/J To Be Auctioned Off

Lamborghini enthusiasts can remember the Lamborghini Miura - which made its impact on the automotive world in the 1960’s and ‘70’s. However, there are very few people who can remember the Miura Jota and the SV/J models. This was one of the rare models that was produced in 1970 purely for the use of testing out their theories and ideas for the Miura SV.

This model had a lightweight body built with a split pump engine, extra vents, and the ‘megaphono’ exhaust pipes. When the car was completed it was delivered to its customer. The Jota on the other hand was destroyed in an accident.

However, when several of Lamborghini’s customers heard about the car, they asked if they could buy one of their own. Lamborghini decided not to officially build a production Jota, but they did offer conversions based on the SV model. The Lamborghini Registry lists only six “works” SV/J models, all featuring the Jota bodywork.

The one we have shown here is listed with the chassis number 4892 and is set to be auctioned off during the Russo and Steele classic car auction. We have not been told the estimate that it could sell for - but because it is such a rare supercar we can imagine that it will be a hefty sum.

Edo Adds More Power To Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera

Edo can never resist a Lamborghini and when they spotted the Superleggera they couldn’t help but give it more power and features that will make us drool. The new Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera is no longer being produced - but Edo has made up for that with the new Superleggera Edo Competition.

One of the best features that the new Superleggera has to offer is incredible acceleration. This is made possible through the use of a massive air box and high flow catalytic converters - both of which were given a new design and a recalibration of the engine electronics.

All of this combined together raises the power output to 560 hp (411 kW) at 8,250 rpm. The power increase of 30 hp / 22 kW boosts the top speed by about 6 km/h (4 mph) to 320 km/h (199 mph).

The sporty concept of the Edo Gallardo Superleggera has also been given 19“ three-piece racing wheels with an artificially-aged cast center-section, hand-polished outer rims and 39 stainless steel screws. The front wheels are shod in stock-sized or (on request) 245/35 ZR 19 rubber while 305/30 ZR 19 Dunlop Sport Maxx tires are used on the rear axle.

Reventon Flown In By Helicopter

Lamborghini decided that the best way to make an impact on people is to fly through the air. Well at least they did their best to make it this way with the help of the Italian military. They flew in a Reventon by military helicopter and placed it on the roof of the Lingotto building.

Lamborghini was hosting a conference about the Italian automaker, called “Lamborghini and speed – a project in record time”. The conference focused on how Lamborghini was able to develop the Reventon quickly and attended by “local, international and academic VIPs” as part of a larger conference called “Turin 2008 – World Design Capital”.

They definitely made an impression on the people who attended the conference. It’s a good thing the Lamborghini was able to stay attached to the helicopter and didn’t fall to its death. That would definitely have left a mark on people.

Lamborghini Sets Price For 2009 Gallardo LP560-4

U.S. dealerships will be receiving the first batch of the brand new 2009 Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 during the late summer. The brand new model will have a starting price of $201,000. This does not include shipping or federal tax.

It is noticeable that Lamborghini has increased the price from $182,000 that was given to the 2008 Gallardo. But this is expected because the 2009 model has been given more hardware and better performance capability.

The all-wheel-drive Gallardo LP560-4 boasts a new direct-injection 5.2-liter V10 that makes 552 horsepower (560 PS in the European system, which accounts for its new label). Lambo claims a 0-60-mph time of less than 3.7 seconds and a top speed in excess of 200 mph.

Lamborghini Has No Plans To Use New Engines

Lamborghini enthusiasts have been waiting to hear how the supercar automaker is planning on adapting to the more strict emissions regulations that have been instilled. To put it simply they stated that they won’t be doing anything at all.

They believe that their production is limited enough and their cars are not driven very much for them to have to change or downsize their engines. They don’t believe that their cars make much of an impact on the enviroment.

Winkelmann also went on to say that Lamborghini is not even thinking about boosting their production or creating 4seaters or SUV’s despite many rumors.

Lamborghini Gallardo With Matching Chopper

Those of us who are lucky enough to get our hands on a Lamborghini Gallardo are truly blessed and find every opportunity to show it off. Can you imagine what would happen if you were able to get a matching motorcycle to go with it? That might be a little unbelievable but it happens.

An owner of a Gallardo in Miami Beach was spotted with a trailer hitch on the back of his $180k Lamborghini coupe – which was used to pull a custom trailer that matches the Gallardo and is pulling a chopper that sports the Lamborghini badge.

Lamborghini Sets Up Certified Pre-Owned Program

CEO of Lamborghini - Steve Winkelmann - released a few details of the new certified pre-owned program that Lamborghini is in the process of developing. Their plans are to release the program worldwide by the end of the year starting with the dealerships in the U.S.

They did not release any details on exactly how Lamborghini dealerships will be inspecting used Lamborghinis. Yet, they did state that sales can only be made through an authorized Lamborghini dealer.

Lamborghini Branches To California

Many automakers are getting worried by the fact that California is working hard to get an EPA waver – except for one. Lamborghini is not at all worried and knows that there will always be a high demand for luxury vehicles.

Lamborghini has even decided that the best place for them to settle down is Santa Monica. This will be the new headquarters for the North American sales operation. It will be the companies very first business venture that will be outside of Italy and it happened in this country mainly because the continent comprises a 41-percent market share of all Lamborghini’s sold in the world.

Lamborghini Is Moving To Las Vegas

Las Vegas is home to some of the wealthiest people. At least it is where most of them try to spend their free time gambling with their money and spending thousands of dollars on luxury suites.

Many of the top automakers know just how much people splurge (or at least try to) when they are in Vegas - which is why they are stationed in Vegas close to most of the top casinos. The fact that Ferrari has its own shop set up there is not new to us - but we were shocked to discover that Lambroghini had yet to open up on The Strip.

That is all about to change. Lamborghini is setting up shop on The Strip and will be selling of some of their best items. The new Lamborghini store will have a cafe and will be located inside the Palazzo Casino and will be connected to the first Lamborghini dealership on The Strip.

Lamborghin Murcielago SV On The Move

A rear wheel drive version of the all wheel drive LP640, the Lamborghini Murcielago SV. Powered by the Lamborghini V12 behind the seats, the SV may put out 680 horsepower. This new Lamborghini is expected to be 220 pounds less than the usual Murcielago.

There will be a new fixed rear wing, probably for either to help with take offs or to stabilize the SV at high speeds. The Lamborghini Murcielago SV is the first in a string of new Lambo models. You can probably expect to see the SV to debut in the Paris Motor Show.
