The first Lamborghini off-road vehicle, that wasn’t a tractor, was the Cheetah, it was built on contract for the American firm Mobility Technology International, which were contacted by the U.S. military to design and built an all-terrain vehicle.
M.T.I. would sell the vehicle while it would be built in Sant’Agata, Lamborghini didn’t have the time to completely design the Cheetah itself, so basic instructions were taken from M.T.I., who unfortunately just copied a very well known vehicle, the FMC XR 311.
In Spanish PREGUNTA means “question”. This vehicle was an original way of questioning the motor world to ask if it is aware of all of the Heuliez Group’s abilities and possibilities, a European industrial reality. So the Pregunta is an aggressive act of defiance that needs to and must succeed in demonstrating the Hueliez Group’s ability to design and produce a real car and not just a simple exhibition prototype.
A year after the world saw the Murcielago at Frankfurt, Lamborghini has taken the next logical step towards a roadster version. While the Murcielago Barchetta was still in a conceptual form, it was sent into production version at the Geneva Motor Show in 2002.
What sets the Barchetta apart from its coupe counterpart is a number of aggressive styling elements including wheels and a new engine cover. Lamborghini hints this new styling may reflect the future of their design language still headed by Luc Donkerwolke.
What we have here are the first truly defined pictures of the next Lamborghini Gallardo. Its radical bodywork and huge air intakes only hint at what’s new underneath the neon paint. As the Audi R8 is ready to be shown off at Paris with version of the Gallardo’s own chassis, it’s only natural to offer the Lambo with more power and further separate the two in the marketplace.
The Lamborghini Countach has become a legend in its own time, but Automobili Lamborghini took this masterpiece one-step further. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the creation of Automobili Lamborghini SpA they designed and built what would become the ultimate Countach.
