Priest’s Wish To Ride In Lamborghini Is Granted
There is still proof in the world that wishes still come true. And what better wish to have then to want to ride in a lamborghini. Rev. Joseph Elliott had this one wish and for his 83 birthday he was able to fulfill that wish.
He was smiling ear-to-ear when he positioned himself into the passenger seat of a 2004 Lamborghini Murcielago, a two-seat, 8-mile-per-gallon shiny black sports car valued at more than $200,000. A minute later, his wish to ride in a Lamborghini was fulfilled when he was whisked away in the high-performance vehicle by the car’s owner, Andres Ruiz. “It was terrific!” Elliott said after emerging from the car ride, which was coordinated by the school’s staff and parents.
“It was more than I ever expected,” he added. “\ asked if I wanted to drive but I said, `Nope, no thanks!”‘ Elliott, who routinely spends his lunchtime among the children and has been a devoted fan at their sporting events, told staffers at a fundraiser earlier in the year that his wish was to ride in a Lamborghini.
So after dozens of phone calls to rental shops and acquaintances, school worker Anabel Oen asked parents if they knew of anyone with a Lamborghini. To her surprise, parent Laura Campos said she did, and she helped Oen make contact with Ruiz. “He’s been here for the last 17 years, and every day he’s praying with the kids and I always see him at the sporting events,” the Rev. Brian Johnson said. “He has put a great amount into this school, even though he’s retired, but he does it anyway.”
All day Tuesday was “Father Elliott Day” at the school, and students sported “crazy” socks with polka dots and hearts and argyle patterns in his honor because those are the kinds of socks he likes to wear. Because his birthday is during the summer, when school isn’t in session, Elliott also received a pre-birthday celebration that included another Lamborghini, this one was a toy, dozens of homemade cards from students, and a cake. “This lived up to every expectation, but something like this could give me a heart attack!” Elliott said, laughing. “I definitely enjoyed it very much.”
